Hi!
I hope this finds you having a MARVELOUS day! Let’s take a break from potty training for today and focus on YOU, the parent of a preschooler.
How are you doing in your role as a parent? Are you feeling totally in your element as a parent, or are you feeling a bit overwhelmed? Are you feeling completely fulfilled, or maybe a little bored and unchallenged? Is there pep in your step, or do you really need to recharge your adult batteries?
As a parent of a preschooler, I know I have felt all of those things at one time or another. I have basically been a stay-at-home mom for 11 years (my oldest daughter is in 6th grade). When our first daughter entered the world, I made the choice that I wanted to be home for my kids. So, I have been a momprenuer, growing businesses from home while raising a family! But, being home all the time can get mundane. It can be exhausting and mind-numbing at times. The days all roll into each other, and before you know it, you have a middle schooler!
Like most parents, my life revolves around my kids. Driving carpool. Going to dance. Playdates, birthday parties, and the neighborhood park. I have to consciously decide that I will take time for myself to recharge my batteries. To relax. I have to find ways to challenge myself and allow my creativity to flow. That’s why I have started businesses that make me happy! My businesses allow me to play amongst other adults! It’s all about creating harmony between all the roles you play, and never losing who you are as a person.
So, if you are feeling unchallenged, uncreative, exhausted, and overwhelmed, do something for yourself SOON! Re-ignite a hobby. Pick up a new sport. Go on a date with your spouse. Start building that business you’ve been thinking about for years (you can do this from home, while being there for your kids!).
And, when you start potty training, it’s imperative that you come up for air! Potty training is intense, especially when you make it your life for a few days. So, after you have completed a few days of potty training, leave the house, ALONE! No kids. This is your time to recharge. I give you permission to do so!
With love,
Casey
